The stratum corneum of the skin is composed of keratinocytes and lipids, of which lipids play an important role in the actual skin barrier.
Lipids are made up of three components: ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids, and are called ceramides for short.
Oily skin has a damaged skin barrier due to lipid changes around the hair follicles.
In other words, when sebum secretion increases, linoleic acid (fatty acid) is diluted and reduced, causing hyperkeratinization in pores.
